Effective cooperation will be established

Today, in the conference hall of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, there was held a business meeting between the Project Administration Group (PAG) of the “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Care Project” (ADB grant – 0627-TJ (SF)), funded by the Asian Development Bank and  the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fundin the Republic of Tajikistan ( UNICEF) on the implementation of the Mid-Term 1 and 3 of the Project agreement.

The First Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Umarzoda Saida Ghairat opened the session, emphasizing that the country is focused on the protection of mother and child health (MCH) in the country, and the successful realization of the “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Care Project” (ADB grant – 0627-TJ (SF)), funded by the Asian Development Bank under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, is under close coordination by the ministry.

The manager of PAG “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Care Project” (ADB grant – 0627-TJ (SF)), funded by the Asian Development Bank under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmudzoda Isfandiyor Safari introduced the audience to the project objectives and its priority areas, and noted that the main purpose of “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Care Project”, was comprehensive enhancement of MCH in pilot areas such as Rasht and Fayzobod districts of the republican subordination and Shamsiddin Shohn of Khatlon province, through the construction and rehabilitation of central district hospitals and district health centers, supplying hospitals and primary care clinics with equipment and furnishings, optimization of planning and strengthening human resources through development of project planning and personnel strategy for pilot projects, as well as the training of primary health care workers  and hospitals for the protection of MCH in care centers and educational institutions, and pilot case-based financing mechanism at project district hospitals.

The Director of nutrition unit of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund in the Republic of Tajikistan (UNICEF), Bridget Job Johnon, noted that it is necessary to take necessary measures for the implementation of this attractive and beneficial cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and fulfill it at the highest level. Heads of various departments of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund in the Republic of Tajikistan (UNICEF), directors of the republican centers, and specialists of the “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Care Project” (ADB grant – 0627-TJ (SF)) have taken part in the meeting and expressed their views.
