For the purpose of timely and effective implementation of the “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Project (Asian Development Bank Grant – 0627 TJ (SF)) under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan on June 12, 2019 in the “Dushanbe-Serena” hotel, there was held Evidence didactic workshop on the topic “Global Burden of Disease” with participation of ADB Technical Assistance Group M4H and the representative of Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, development partners, representatives of health facilities in the pilot project districts (Rasht, Faizobod, Shamsiddin Shohin) and the staff of PAG.
The introductory part was opened by the manager of “Maternal and Child Health Integrated Project” under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Makhmudzoda I.S. who, informed the audience about the main objectives of the project and its activities.
Then the floor was given to the main speaker from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington in Seattle who, delivered a detailed presentation about health data measurement approach, key assessment factors for data, the principles underlying the analytic process, and ways to interpret the results. Also on the topics ” history and factors of global diseases”, “mitigation measures of global burden of diseases” and “the causes of death” lectures were presented, in which the audience had a constructive discussion.
It should be noted that the adoption of such measures and conducting workshops will contribute on improving the knowledge and skills of the staff working in the health sector.
