Project Objectives: Improvement of integrated services for the protection of maternal and child health
- Improving the planning and strengthening of human resources with the development of a strategy for planning and proper distribution of personnel
- Creation of effective system of patients between primary health care and hospitals
- Integration of vertical programs in the primary health care system
- Improving the quality services on the national, regional and local level
- Creation of teacher supervision system
- introduction of financing based on hospital treatment
- Advancement and improvement of infrastructure in hospitals and primary health care facilities through construction
- Repairment of facilities, equipment supply and medical equipment
- Improving the equipment management system and capacity building of the specialists on equipment maintenance
Areas of project activities:
The project is implemented in the Rural Health Centers (RHC), District Health Centers (DHC), Medical Centers (MC), Central District Hospitals (CDH) and in Regional Hospitals of Rasht and Fayzobod districts of republican subordination and Shamsiddin Shohin of Khatlon Province.
Project Implementation Period:
Project start: March 29, 2019
Project Completion: August 31, 2025
The project includes the following sections:
Improvment of quality of integrated maternal and child health care services in pilot areas:
- Improvement of planning and empowering human resources capacity through development of planning and distribution strategy for project districts, including training of PHCS and hospital personnel for MCH in centers and training institutions of the pilot districts.
- Develop, implement and supervise the observance of the delivery system of MCH services and staff training on referral system in the protection of maternal and child health.
- Provide technical assistance in developing and implementing the system of continuous improvement of quality, medical appointment visit and ensuring compliance with the clinical protocols of MCH;
- Pilot case-based financing mechanism at project district hospitals;
Improvement and rehabilitation of MCH services in pilot districts
- Construction and rehabilitation of district center hospitals and district health centers in pilot districts of the Project;
- Providing Hospitals and primary health care centers with medical equipment and furniture in pilot districts of the Project;
- Support for the creation of the equipment management system through providing equipment for the service and strengthening the capacity of specialists in the management of equipment in pilot districts of the Project;
Development of MCH knowledge and health seeking behaviors in project districts:
- Increasing the capacity of the State Institution “Republican Healthy Lifestyle Center” and its branches in the pilot districts of the project by developing and implementing a plan to improve the capacity of staff, strengthening the capacity of health centers on healthy lifestyle, and the development of implementation plan related to communication events for the behavior change, monitoring, evaluation and reporting;
- development of research knowledge, attitudes and practices, strategies for behavior change and plans for implementing and strengthening monitoring;
- conducting public awareness campaigns to improve the knowledge on MCH protection and provide small grants to communities to carry out explanatory activities for behavioral changes;
